Science is an activity which stimulates the primary school child's imagination and enthusiasm. We aim to encourage this by the teaching of 'Knowledge and Understanding' and 'Scientific Investigations'.
'Knowledge and Understanding' covers the study of plans and animals, the properties of materials, the Earth and its atmosphere, electricity and magnetism, energy, forces, light and sound.
'Scientific Investigations' encourage children to observe, ask questions, predict and hypothesise. As they develop, children are taught to measure, interperate results and evaluate scientific evidence.

Science is part of children's everyday life, but to appreciate this they have to be taught to think and act scientifically. By sharing results of experiences, observations and investigations, children are learning to communicate. They are taught to express their ideas and findings orally and through drawing, writing and charts.
