Music

The main aim of music in our school is to foster pupil's appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of music. This is achieved through an active and integrated involvement in listening, composing and performing using voice, tuned and untuned instruments.

Recorder lessons are available from year 2 and continue throughout the junior classes. They take place either before school or at lunch time. Children can apply to have violin, cello and brass lessons at school. There is a charge for these and parents have to buy or hire their own instruments.
There is also a School Choir (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) which meets after school one day per week. They perform regularly throughout the year at Harvest Festival, Christmas celebrations, concerts etc.

The school takes a full and enthusiastic part in area music making. The year 2 Infants have their own Music Festival each summer, taking it in turn to visit each others' schools. Juniors in the nine local primary schools meet annually for a Recorder Morning and also a Music Making Day.
